Today’s Breakfast :)

Hey angels !

Hope you have been doing well. Thought of making a food blog post today and whats better than writing about what breakfast I myself had in the morning. 🙂 If you guys have been following me then you know what a big food lover I am and how I feel that breakfast is the most important meal in a day.

img_0192

I am milk addict. Literally, I can live for days having just milk. And, I also love cereals. So, I have different varieties of cereals with milk for breakfast. Sometimes cornflakes, sometimes oats, sometimes museli and so on. Today I had some wheatflakes from kellogg’s alongwith milk. Yeah, kellogg’s happens to be my favorite brand when it comes to cereals. They have such a wide variety which has almost taken over the Indian market since years. I also added some Amway Nutrilite plant protein powder to the milk as I mostly eat vegan.

img_0191

I also had a multigrain bread sandwich stuffed with loads of raw veggies. For flavor I had added some black pepper powder to boost up my metabolism and also spread some crunchy peanut butter before layering the veggies.

img_0193

To keep myself hydrated I had a glass of fresh tender coconut water. It was purely organic as the tender coconut was from my own garden. It is very good for detoxing and is always a better replacement for the store bought packaged juices which have a lot of added sugars and preservatives.

Hope you have liked this post. Do let me know if you have any healthy breakfast ideas so that I can incorporate it to my life.

Stay healthy!

NEW Patanjali Saundarya Aloe Vera Gel KESAR CHANDAN Review

Aloe-Vera has many beauty uses. It is a holy grail product for the skin no matter what skin type you have, be it oily, dry or combination. To know the beauty uses of aloe-vera, click here. Natural aloe-vera from the plant is amazing but, it is not easily available everywhere. Also, it can get a little messy in the process of extracting the gel. Hence, the store-bought aloevera gel comes to our aid. We are all familiar with the good old Patanjali Aloe-Vera Gel. But, for those beauties, who want something extra with their plain aloe-vera, here comes the NEW Patanjali Saundarya Aloe Vera Gel KESAR CHANDAN. It is a new product launched by Patanjali which also has the goodness of some saffron and sandal with aloe-vera. To see a comparision between the 2 types of Aloe-Vera gels by Patanjali, click here.img_0845

Ingredients :

  • Aloe Vera 89%
  • Kesar 0.01%
  • Chandan 0.10%
  • Base Material – Vitamin E, Permitted colour and Sugandhit dravya Q.S.

Price :

Rs. 50 for 60 ml

My experience :

It is a golden yellow colored gel having a smell of sandalwood. Though I personally like the smell, I feel its a little artificial and may be too strong for people with a sensitive nose. But, the smell vanishes within a couple of mins of use.  The tube is very sturdy and comes with a flip open cap. On application it gives a nice cooling sensation, and within a few minutes it gets absorbed into the skin. It is  hydrating but doesn’t make my skin more oily. Though, people with dry skin need to use a moisturizer along with to combat the dryness.  It also gives a slightly yellow undertone after getting blend into the skin which complements most of the Indian skintones.

It claims to give pimple free, wrinkle free glowing skin and an instant glow. It doesn’t cause any breakouts and also helps in getting rid of the acne and acne scars gradually. I can’t comment on the wrinkles as I haven’t got any but aloe-vera is known to help prevent wrinkles. The glow on the skin is not as ‘instant’ as it claims but it does after 1-2 weeks of regular use.

So, friends, if you have used this product then please let me know in the comment section below about your experience. Also, if you want me to review any other product or any homemade diy then please let me know in the comments. I shall try doing it in my future blog posts. In today’s post, I am going to review the old Patanjali plain Aloe-Vera gel. It is a pain for me to find an Aloe Vera plant and cut it and take out pulp so I like using this readymade aloe vera gel for my beauty routine.

  • Permitted Colours – Tartazine Yellow and Brilliant blue

img_20161028_212739

My experience :

It is a green colored gel having a pleasant smell. The tube is very sturdy and comes with a flip open cap. I like using this on my face once or twice every day. On application it gives a nice cooling sensation, and within a few minutes it gets absorbed into the skin. It is  hydrating but doesn’t make my skin more oily. I have oily skin and sensitive skin and I absolutely love this product. Though, I think dry skinned beauties would also need a moisturizer alongwith this. My face looks smoother and even the texture of my skin feels improved after application. It also works on open pores.

Apart from my face, I also use it on my hairs as a heat protectant and as an ingredient in my hair spas. To know my hair spa recipe, click here. I also use it to sooth my skin after waxing/shaving.

So, friends, if you have used this product then please let me know in the comment section below about your experience. Weekend Luncheon at Bhubaneswar !!

Hi friends,

Hope you have been doing great. Today I am going to make a very different blog post. It is going to be about 2 good restaurants I had been in the last weekend. At least once in every 2 weeks or so, my body screams to eat something good outside and the scenario goes something like this, “Where do you want to eat today? What do you feel like?” And if you folks know me, you know how I am when it comes to food. While eating outside, the first thing I want is good ambiance. No, I don’t mind eating at small dhabas and stalls but once in a while I love to indulge in heavenly food in a more heavenly environment to attain that ultimate peace. 😛 Also, the food should be something which makes me ‘fall in love at the first bite’. Last but not the least, I prefer eating somewhere which doesn’t burn a hole in the pocket. But, unfortunately its difficult getting all the 3 together.

So, in today’s post, I shall be sharing my experience at 2 restaurants which I absolutely loved eating at in the last weekend. The first one is ‘Aangan Heritage’ which falls on the Infocity road, Patia, Bhubaneswar. I had been there once before when it had newly opened and I was in my last days at college so it was a very nostalgic feeling, being there. If you want a quiet, calm and private place to have some alone time or with your near and dear ones. It has small cabins for each table which gives you your nice little corner. It is definitely pocket friendly as 2 people can easily have a 3 course meal within Rs. 500-800.

I instantly fall in love with restaurants which serve you great soups. We had chicken burnt garlic soup which smelled as good as it tasted. Don’t remember the time when I had a soup that tasted better than this one. Also had cheese balls for starters which melted amazingly within a couple of seconds in the mouth. They also served french fries along with the cheese balls which I didn’t expect.

For main course we had butter chicken tikka with tandoori roti, masala kulcha and paneer kulcha which all tasted equally good. We also had some green salad. (Try to eat something healthy when eating unhealthy :P)

Finally for desserts there is the newly opened ‘The Chocolate House’ infront of Bhawani Mall, Bhubaneswar. It was my first time there and I really wanted to be there since the first time I saw it after I moved back to Bhubaneswar. The moment I entered the restaurant, I was in love at first sight with place. The chocolaty aroma , the handmade chocolates for sale, the ambient lighting, the beautiful interiors were more than enough to take my heart. It is a must try for all the chocolate lovers out there. This pretty little cafe also provides you books to while away your time if you are eating alone or waiting for someone. You can also treat yourself for as less as Rs. 100 there. We had some black forest ice-cream and some hot chocolate brownie with ice-cream. I also bought some handmade chocolates while returning to have later at home.

Hope you liked this blog post of mine. Do let me know what are your favorite restaurants in the city so that I can be there next time. Check out my blog for more such posts.

10 Beauty Benefits of Aloe Vera

Hi friends,

Hope you have been doing good. As you might have noticed, I have changed my blogging schedule from weekends to mid-weeks now as I shall be making a video on YouTube in the weekends. In today’s post I shall write on a miraculous plant that is aloe vera.  We all know that aloe vera is one of the most amazing plants ever which has numerous health and beauty benefits. To know the various beauty benefits of aloe vera, keep reading.IMG_20160928_145508.jpg

1. As a daily skin treatment. Apply aloe vera juice to your face and neck just like you would with any skin serum to keep the early signs of aging at bay.

2. To face away acne scars. If you have scars left from acne, apply aloe vera mixed with some lemon juice on it everyday to see them lightening gradually.

3. To keep that oily skin away. If you have a terribly oily skin like me, apply aloe vera just before applying your daily skin care products/cosmetics to reduce the oil secretion throughout the day

4. To gently moisturize the skin. Aloe vera is a natural humectant. Add a few drops of baby oil to aloe vera and use as a natural moisturizer.

5. To tame down the frizz. Apply some aloe vera to the ends of your hair after wash to tame down those unruly frizz.

6. As a heat protectant. Before using any hair styling tool like dryers, straightening irons, use aloe vera generously to protect your hair from the heat.

7. As a face toner. Aloe vera helps in minimizing the skin pores so it can be used as a natural skin toner on the face.

8. As an aftershave. Aloe vera is very soothing for the skin so it can be used post shaving or waxing when the skin turns out to be really sensitive.

9. On an itchy scalp. Just like skin, aloe vera is soothing for the scalp as well. So if you have an itchy and sensitive scalp or you face a dandruff problem, aloe vera can be a help.

10. On sunburns and stretch marks. Aloe vera has healing and inflamatory properties which can help in treating sunburns. Also, due to its healing properties, it can help the stretching tears on the skin due to rapid weight-gain or loss.

All natural home remedies take time and so does aloe vera. If, you are trying out any of the above remedies, be patient as well as consistent and you would soon see amazing results. Hope you liked this article. Do check out for more.

5 ways to be happy :)

“When you are joyful, when you say yes to life and have fun and project positivity all around you, you become a sun in the center of every constellation, and people want to be near you.” – Shannon L. Alder

Hey friends,

Welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to post something very different from my older posts. We all have a void in our lives which needs to be filled up with loads of happiness. So, to know 5 ways how to be happier, keep reading. 🙂

1. Have less expectations. Having less expectations from everything and everybody helps in giving a higher satisfaction when you get something which results in more happiness. Keep working hard to achieve your goals and be ambitious. But, learn to enjoy the results as well. If you are not able to meet up the target, then worrying is not going to lead you to anywhere. Be happy with whatever you got and try harder next time.

2. Stop stalking people on social media. People generally have a more happening life on social media than in real. Say, you have a 1000 friends on facebook. And when you log on, you see 100 of them posting happy and happening stuff while you are going through a bad day. Hold on! What about the other 900? They might be having a day like yours, or maybe even worse. Log on to instagram and you see posts of your friends partying, eating at fancy restaurants or travelling to exotic locations and you feel that you have the most boring life ever. But, we all know that the best memories of our lives are the ones we don’t have pictures of. So ditch out that smartphone and enjoy more of real life.

3. Stay away from toxic people. We all have at least one of those in our life who happens to ruin our mood no matter what. Bullies or nosy people or bossy people who happen to surround us everywhere can’t just stand to see happiness in us. Just stay away from them. You don’t want that much of negativity in your life.

4. Stay close to happy people. Again, we have at least a person in our life who always makes us happy. It can be somebody who is very motivating or somebody who always happens to be jolly. Happiness is contagious. If you spend more time hanging around this person or talking to this person, you tend to be happier.

5. Stay healthy. Everybody knows that a healthy body always has a healthy mind. Eat healthy, workout, meditate, have good sleep and you can find the happy hormones boosting up.

Hope you enjoyed reading this. Follow my blog for more.

Stay happy!

Detox water/Infused water

Hi friends !!

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi 😀 How was the weekend btw? Mine was great apart from the fact that its raining heavily here. So haven’t been able to go out anywhere. So, getting into today’d post, I shall be telling you guys about detox water which has been a latest diet craze in recent year. There’s no other more important detox rule than this one: hydration! Whether you’re trying to lose a few pounds or you just want to flush the toxins out of your body, hydration is the key to making this successful. But plain water can be quite bland for our taste-buds and many people opt for canned juices or soft-drinks rather than water. So our ultimate key for this can be our own infused detox water. 😀

Detox water or infused water also called as spa -water nowadays is drinking water that has fruits and herbs added to it which give its flavor to the water and also add some minerals and vitamins into it. So, it can be a healthier alternative to having the sweetened drinks which has a lot of calories in it.

This infused water may sound complicated but it is very easy to make it at home. Just add some fruit slices and herbs to the water and store it preferably overnight and consume it throughout the next day. You can add more water to the bottle or jar too later on. But I recommend you to not use the same bottle for more than a day as the fruits may start to rot.

You can choose from a variety of fruit and herb combinations like apple-cinnamon, or lemon-mint-cucumber, or lemon-ginger for weight-loss. Mint infused water can also help in preventing bloating and give a fresh flavor to the water. If the weather is very hot then you can enjoy watermelon-mint water. If you have a sweet-tooth then you can have pineapple-sugarcane infused water. To have a more strong flavored water you can have orange-blueberries or strawberry-cucumber-mint-lime water. Apart from mint, you can also add other herbs like basil, rosemary and lavender if they are available near you.

These detox recipes taste even more refreshing than sodas or sweetened water which has more calories. These keep you hydrated throughout the day and not only do they aid in weight loss but also they give you beautiful skin which can be an added benefit. Also, there is such a diversity that you will never run out of options.

Stay healthy ! 🙂

Patanjali Body Ubtan Review

Hi friends !

Hope the weekend had been amazing for you guys. 🙂 So today I shall make a post which is very different from my previous 2 blog posts. It is about one of my favorite Patanjali products, i.e. Patanjali Body Ubtan. Now, most of my friends either love all Patanjali beauty products or they hate them. I have never seen any in-between. As per my take, I love some and I keep buying them again and again and I hate some products. This Body Ubtan happens to be one of my most loved products from Patanjali. 🙂

I always love trying new beauty products and one day when I saw this at a Patanjali outlet I thought I should give it a try as they are natural products and quite pocket friendly.

Ingredients :

• Chiraunji (Cuddapah Almond)
• Red Lentils
• Black gram
• Barley
• Mustard seeds
• Soybean
• Rice
• Almond
• Turmeric
• Camphor

Price :  Rs. 60 for 100g.

My experience :

It is a dry yellow colour powder as shown in the left pic. When mixed with water it forms a paste as shown in the right. It has a very soothing smell of camphor and turmeric which we can find in aroma-therapy spas.

I have dry skin and I mix it with rosewater and lemon juice and apply the paste. After keeping it for 5-10 mins, I massage it a little for the exfoliation to take place and then wash it off. If you have dry skin you can add a few drops of almond or olive oil to it. I have been applying it daily since the past few weeks and I have seen reduction in pigmentation marks on my face. Also, after I wash it off, it leaves my skin soft and smooth. It can be used as a daily body scrub and as its scrub particles are mild enough to be used on the face as well.

So, friends, if you have used this product then please let me know in the comment section below about your experience. Also, if you want me to review any other product or any homemade diy then please let me know in the comments. I shall try doing it in my future blog posts. If you like my post please share it with your friends.

Stay beautiful! 🙂 :*

Have a great start with a great breakfast.

“Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper”-Adelle Davis

Hi, friends here I am once again with you to share some healthy eating habits we must choose throughout the day to keep our metabolism running. The first and most important meal to start your day is breakfast; you can program your entire day’s metabolism just by making right breakfast choices. I personally feel one healthy breakfast is comprised of all the macros needed for running a healthy body. But, sadly, I have seen many of my friends skipping breakfast. This is one of the worst things you can do to yourself. People who skip breakfast generally tend to overeat during lunch and dinner. Breakfast skippers often feel tired, irritable and restless in the morning because they do not have adequate energy for their brains and muscles to sustain activity throughout the day. Also, they have hunger pangs throughout the day so they choose foods which are readily available around them like cookies, chips and lots of fast food. So, people who have been health freaks, people who have always loved fast food, people who love eating desserts for breakfast (I love to eat desserts anytime of the day, not as a dessert but as a main course :P), and people who have always been in a hurry and unable to find time during the morning for breakfast, this post is for you. Read it until the end as there will be lots of tips for you in this post.

It’s not for only gym goers but everyone should start their day with a healthy mix of complex carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats and fibers. Carbohydrates and healthy fats provides energy to keep us going throughout the day. Protein helps to build and repair our body. Fiber helps to keep us full for a longer time and also helps in proper bowel movement.

Nobody can deny that oatmeal is a healthy source of complex carbs, fiber and protein and by complex carbs I mean one which keeps you full for longer hours. Throw in some fruits in it with some scrambled eggs and you have got the perfect right mix of all the four.

In a typical Indian household scenario you may not find so much time to make so many different recipes for a healthy breakfast so what you can do is  make mix vegetable curry with lots of gravy and throw in some dry roasted oats in it and believe me it tastes much better than oats upma. If you hit the gym on the day then you might like to increase protein content in it. You can have chicken breast curry with oats in it. Alternatively, have scrambled eggs with it.People who have a sweet-tooth like me can add lots of honey and dry fruits to oats cooked with milk. It is a healthier alternative to the traditional kheer we love so much.

Many people don’t like the taste of oats. If oatmeal doesn’t go down your throat then you have many other choices as well. Try brown rice which is very easy to make. Boil some water and add some brown rice in a rice cooker. It’s ready in just ten minutes. Brown rice keeps you full for longer and it has got just right amount of dietary fibers and some minerals. Cook some mixed vegetables curry or chicken breast curry with light gravy and mix it with brown rice and it can be a healthier alternative to biryani.

Those who like to start their day with fast food, you have many options to make it healthier. You can prepare whole wheat pasta with lots of vegetables in it sauteed with some eggs in it or if you are a vegetarian add some paneer(cottage cheese) or tofu. Use fresh tomatoes n chilies rather than tomato n chili sauce the former tastes much better n also is free from preservatives and packed with all the goodness of tomatoes.

I have been living in Hyderabad for the last 4 months and I got a hint of how yummy the South-Indian food can be. Many of my friends also love eating them. If you are a person who cannot refrain from south Indian delicacies like idli and dosa, go for multigrain idli and with dosa batter, mix some gram flour pulses and other grains and serve with sambhar and coconut chutney.

Now, it is the 21st century and our lives are getting faster everyday. Office, school and college goers usually are in a rush every morning. So, for people who are always on the go and don’t have time to prepare and eat breakfast in the morning, I have some ideas for you. In hot countries like India, we always love to have something cool. Throw in some cut-fruit of your choice, skimmed milk or yoghurt, ice-cubes and oats into the mixer to make it a delicious smoothie in less than 5 mins. You can then transfer it to a mason jar and have it on the way. If you can spare a little more time, you can have a smoothie bowl of the same while adding some dry fruits to the smoothie to make it more interesting.  Alternatively, you can also have some low fat yoghurt with fruits or stuff salad vegetables or chicken or egg inside whole-wheat or multigrain bread and make a sandwich out of it. Also you can have a quick breakfast of whole grain cereals or muesli with some skimmed milk or low fat yoghurt.

Friends, no matter whatever you choose to eat, make sure that you eat something nutritious at the start of the day to keep yourself fueled up throughout. If you liked the post, also share it with your friends. Also, let me know which one is your favorite breakfast out of all the above ideas.

Stay healthy! 🙂
